Elder Chester Yuan

Elder Chester Yuan was born in Fuchian and was raised in Taiwan until the age of 12. Then he came to the United States with his family. Chester completed his high school in Annapolis then continued his college at the University of Maryland. There he received his Bachelors and Master degree in zoology. After a short time in research and clinical laboratory, Chester started a career in the pharmaceutical industry. This career in the pharmaceutical sales and marketing lasted for 22 years.
He and his wife, Arlene decided to devote their energy completely to serve the Lord as missionaries to Bangkok Thailand. They served as English teachers at the Baptist Student Center with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Conference. While in Bangkok, they planted a church, the Good News Church which is still thriving today. They were reaching into the Thai professionals who were steep into Buddhism. This provided a great deal of experience in planting churches. After two years of service in Thailand, they returned to Charlottesville.
In September 2004, Chester felt God’s call to plant another church. He responded by planting a new Chinese church and becoming their pastor. Chester retired from the pastor position in June 2011.
